Kirkland Power Outage News1

A widespread power outage impacting thousands of Kirkland residents is currently underway. The outage, which began at approximately 2:15 PM PST, has left homes and businesses without electricity across a significant portion of the city.

Cause of the Outage Still Under Investigation

The exact cause of the outage remains under investigation. Puget Sound Energy (PSE), the primary electricity provider for the area, has dispatched crews to the affected areas to assess the situation and begin repair work. Initial reports suggest the outage may be related to a downed power line, but this has yet to be officially confirmed by PSE.

Affected Areas and Estimated Restoration Time

While the full extent of the affected area is still being determined, reports indicate that outages are concentrated in the central and eastern parts of Kirkland. PSE has not yet provided a firm estimate for when power will be fully restored. However, their website indicates that crews are working diligently and expect to have service restored to most areas by 8:00 PM PST. Updates will be provided as they become available.

Safety Precautions During Outage

PSE urges residents to take the following safety precautions during the outage:

  • Treat all downed power lines as live. Do not approach them and keep children and pets away.
  • Avoid using candles or other open flames. If necessary, use flashlights or battery-powered lamps.
  • Unplug sensitive electronics to prevent damage from potential power surges upon restoration.
  • Monitor PSE's website and social media for updates on the outage.
